season 4 may reveal more about Harry’s species and homeworld, adding depth to the story while maintaining the character’s mysterious allure.
My excitement for the eventual arrival of Resident Alien season 4 has been intensified by the showrunner’s comments, which suggest a trend that emerged in season 3 will continue to develop in the next run of episodes. Resident Alien has managed to reinvent itself following each renewal while still recognizably being the same show. Thankfully, showrunner Chris Sheridan has stated his intent for Resident Alien season 4, and it sounds equally promising. I’ve found the story to be endlessly compelling so far, and Sheridan’s idea has me hyped up and assured me the show will continue to impress.
Resident Alien season 3’s ending drastically raised the story’s stakes, with several cliffhangers and new characters being introduced in the finale. Sheridan seems as though he intends to build on the last-minute twists while also advancing a specific element of Resident Alien season 3’s formula. Interestingly, the showrunner’s plans could also expand the Resident Alien cast a great deal. I’m sure I’m not the only fan of the show who’s looking forward to what Sheridan has in store.

Although Resident Alien season 4 hasn’t yet been confirmed, the next installment of the Syfy show needs to answer questions posed by season 3.
Resident Alien’s Showrunner Has Plans To Introduce More Alien Races In Season 4
Harry Vanderspeigle could be set to have more company from beyond the stars
Speaking at WonderCon 2024 (Via The Direct), Sheridan confirmed he wants to, “Expand the Alien Universe“ in Resident Alien season 4. I think the introduction of more extraterrestrial beings would align perfectly with the new races that debuted in Resident Alien season 3. Edi Patterson’s Blue Avian character, Heather, was a huge part of recent efforts, but there were other alien species brought into the fold too. For instance, the Mantid is primed to become Resident Alien season 4’s main villain, and the unnamed blue alien he consumes during the finale’s cold open also belongs to a new race.
Sheridan also goes on to say that it’s his desire to blur the line between fantasy and reality.
Sheridan also goes on to say that it’s his desire to blur the line between fantasy and reality, populating the world of the show with aliens commonly referred to within circles of real-world people who have UFO and alien stories. So, he may not be creating the new aliens from the ground up, but rather delving into folklore and accounts of those who claim to have encountered aliens in reality. I love this approach, and I hope Sheridan gets to follow through on his statement.
“In the future, I’d love to, you know, take that list of aliens that people sort of know about and populate our world a little bit with them.”
Harry will have friends from other worlds (not just more enemies)
Many of the alien characters in the show so far have opposed Harry, with the biggest exception being Heather – who went on to become Harry’s first real love interest. Even when Resident Alien began, Harry was also a villain whose aim was to destroy Earth. It’s an understandable trope, as I’m aware the main dynamic of the show is humanity vs the rest of the universe. However, it does get a little predictable after a while – especially with the Grey Aliens’ looming presence. That’s why I’m grateful that Chris Sheridan seems to want to change this too.
“Maybe in season 4, [Harry] has his own friends. Whether it’s the portal repair guy that we saw, the little green man—I think Harry should have some friends that just hang out at his house, and they’re just playing poker together. I think that would be a lot of fun.”
I agree with Sheridan’s appraisal of the potential scenario being “A lot of fun,” but it would also be a welcome change of pace. Instead of jumping straight to unease and wondering what could go wrong after a new alien character enters the show, I can instead start to look forward to humorous interactions and Harry spending time with other figures who will share his same skewed view of humanity.
More Information About Harry’s Species & Homeworld Should Be Revealed In Resident Alien Season 4
The lore surrounding Harry’s origin is still sparse
With Sheridan’s plan to flesh out the lore concerning life beyond Earth in Resident Alien season 4, I feel it would make complete sense for the show to finally provide more information about Harry’s origin and his people. While Harry has provided his real name – which, to human ears, is nothing more than a series of indecipherable vocalizations – Resident Alien still hasn’t revealed the name of his species or his planet. However, he has stated his homeworld is in the Ursa Major constellation – which exists in the real world.

Resident Alien Season 4’s Big Character Tease Is Very Exciting After Season 3’s Ending
Resident Alien season 4 is set to shake things up with certain members of its regular cast, with the showrunner referencing unexplored dynamics.
I think Resident Alien has avoided imparting this information for a good reason. Obscuring details about Harry allows the audience to know the character as he is now. He’s an alien who has been forever changed by existing among humans, and also calls Earth his new home. His people are obviously nefarious, considering the mission they originally gave to Alan Tudyk’s character, so perhaps providing too much context could undo his arc and make it difficult to see past his villainous roots. However, I actually think this would be a good facet to include in Resident Alien season 4.
