Marvel Hid The Coolest Part Of Agatha Harkness’s MCU Costume

Agatha All Along unveiled a new side of the WandaVision supporting character, but one cool detail about her remains hidden even after Agatha All Along‘s ending. The MCU’s most recent Disney+ series shocked a lot of people with its success, and a lot of that is thanks to the genuine authenticity and passion in the production, which will hopefully be emulated by upcoming MCU releases. Not only did the team create a completely practical version of the Witches’ Road, but they managed to convey the difference of each trial through the show’s extensive wardrobe.

Part of the way that Agatha All Along portrays Agatha’s storied life is through her costume. Agatha spent decades in the MCU timeline spreading the myth of the Witches’ Road and conning witches of their power, and the series showed just how many eras she journeyed through with all of her period costumes. However, one of Agatha’s most iconic outfits is actually the one she started the road with, and Marvel hid some incredible details in it.

Agatha All Along’s Coolest Costume Detail Is Hidden In Agatha’s Coat

At the first official gathering of her coven, Agatha is wearing a long navy blue coat with a collared white shirt and purple pants underneath it. The outfit is completely in line with the stylish witch, especially with the outfits that she’s seen wearing in further episodes. Besides being fashionable, Agatha’s coven outfit incorporated details that the series never even showcased. Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of Agatha All Along showed fans that the coolest part of Agatha’s costume was embroidered on the inside of her coat, never to actually be seen on screen.

Agatha All Along costume designer Daniel Selon revealed an intricate pattern of crows in Agatha’s coat. There is a murmuration of crows near the neck of the coat, going down the back and diving down into chaos. The bird pattern then disperses and transforms into magical ruins along the sides of the inner jacket. Meant to represent Agatha being a covenless witch through the imagery of lonely crows, the coat’s inner pattern is undoubtedly the coolest detail about her costume, and it’s a shame that it was never properly shown in the actual series.

Why Agatha All Along Hid Costume Details Inside Agatha’s Coat

As fans have gotten to know Agatha over the course of WandaVision and Agatha All Along, they know that she is a witch with plenty of secrets. The fun part about the character is that the viewer is constantly left wondering about the truth, knowing that the witch is probably hiding something. As such, this aspect of the character is reflected in the costume and its hidden details – especially since such a detail would’ve been hard for the show to explicitly address or explain naturally without it feeling like an excuse to show off this cool part of the series’ wardrobe.

Agatha All Along ends with Agatha becoming a hero of sorts, albeit semi-forcibly as she’s just tagging along on Billy’s quest to find his brother. She is undoubtedly being set up for a future in the MCU, and that could mean the return of her prized jacket and a reveal of the inner pattern. With how Agatha All Along ended, the pattern has become more representative of the character than ever. Just as the crows dive away from their group, Agatha and Billy have separated from their coven and are about to embark on their own.
