Daryl Dixon Season 2 Death Is A Bad Omen For 3 Other Walking Dead Characters

Daryl Dixon Season 2 Death Is A Bad Omen For 3 Other Walking Dead Characters

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol episode 3.

As the stakes continue to rise in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, characters become more and more at risk of being killed off, and the show’s latest death puts a handful of survivors in jeopardy. Daryl Dixon‘s supporting cast was treated incredibly well in season 1 and, unlike in some of the other Walking Dead spinoffs, they also played a major part in the plot. Having these new additions to the franchise survive and grow important to the protagonist helped Daryl Dixon become arguably the best Walking Dead spinoff, but this only made the recent death all the more shocking.

While it’s important for the show not to get predictable by keeping everyone alive, the unexpected departure completely flipped audience expectations. L’Union betraying Daryl did indicate that the drama may only get more intense as there is no real safe haven for the central characters, but it was still a surprise to see someone from the main group go. However, the series may not be done, as this death opens the door for more exits. As a result, three key characters are far more likely to die than ever, making their stories in Daryl Dixon season 2 exciting yet worrying.

Sylvie’s Death Breaks Daryl Dixon Season 1’s New Character Survival Trend

Daryl Dixon Killing Off Sylvie Suggests Season 2 Is Less Shy About Major Character Deaths

Despite being a crucial character throughout Daryl Dixon season 1, Sylvie was killed off in season 2’s third episode, breaking a character survival trend for the show. Although characters like Azlan and Quinn died in season 1, while Emile was recently killed off in “Moulin Rouge”, they weren’t truly a part of Daryl’s small group of trusted allies, unlike Sylvie. Sylvie had been part of the mission to escort Laurent to the Nest since the show’s first episode and was one of Daryl Dixon‘s main supporting characters. However, she finally met her end during a scuffle with L’Union.

Although her death was an accident, The Union’s planned ceremony is what ultimately cost Sylvie her life. After incapacitating the guard watching over her, she tried to warn everyone about what Losang had planned for Laurent but wound up falling to her death during the commotion. Given she was such an important character, Sylvie arguably deserved a better exit than this unexpected demise, but her death is actually a huge deal as she is the first member of Daryl’s core group to be killed.

Therefore, losing Sylvie ends the survival trend regarding the show’s most important survivors, as she is the first central character among Daryl Dixon season 2’s cast to go. Worryingly, this makes it even more likely that the spinoff will get more ruthless when it comes to major character departures, meaning Sylvie’s death could be the first of many, putting several other key survivors in the firing line.

Sylvie’s Death Means 3 More Characters Could Also Die Before Daryl Dixon Season 2 Ends

Isabelle, Fallou, & Ash Are Much More Vulnerable After Sylvie’s Death

With Sylvie officially out of the picture, three major characters may be at risk before season 2 comes to an end. Codron’s fate is still relatively up in the air now that he’s seemingly going through a redemption arc, but he isn’t overly impacted by Sylvie’s death. In contrast, Ash, Isabelle, and Fallou are all much more vulnerable after losing one of the show’s main characters. For Isabelle and Fallou, there is one less person to look out for them, and Ash dying in Daryl Dixon‘s second season isn’t out of the question, with the spinoff seeming more kill-happy.

While Isabelle is a level above Ash and Fallou in terms of importance to the plot,
Daryl Dixon
breaking its survival trend indicates that she could also be killed during season 2.

The other spinoffs have gotten away with axing most of their new additions, and while Daryl Dixon has felt different because of its strong supporting cast, season 2 may be more brutal. Fallou and Ash arguably have the same level of importance as Sylvie, meaning if the series was happy to kill her off, they’re both in serious danger. While Isabelle is a level above Ash and Fallou in terms of importance to the plot, Daryl Dixon breaking its survival trend indicates that she could also be killed during season 2, proving that Sylvie’s death significantly upped the stakes.

Daryl Dixon Season 3’s Setting Makes Further Character Deaths More Likely

The Spinoff’s Transition To Spain Suggests All The Central Characters Can’t Make It Out Alive

After Sylvie’s death, more character departures seem likely considering the spinoff will be changing locations in season 3. Although France has been a memorable environment, Daryl Dixon season 3 will head to Spain, suggesting that not every character will be coming with the protagonists. While Carol and Daryl have yet to cross paths in season 2, their reunion is inevitable and their attempt to return to America will take a detour through Spain. Even if Ash, Isabelle, and Fallou all choose to join them on this journey, there is no guarantee they will all manage to exit France alive.

Daryl Dixon Season 2 Twist Shows Why The Spinoff Needs Rick Grimes

Daryl Dixon’s second season looks to be setting up an interesting twist, but this only proves how much Rick Grimes would improve the spinoff.

Norman Reedus has already hyped up season 2’s finale, hinting at an explosive hour of TV, which could lead to another major character death. If the finale is the beginning of Daryl and Carol’s journey home, it may take a sacrifice to help the rest of the group leave, setting up an emotional ending. Although it’s not impossible, it feels unlikely that everyone will head to Spain together and some character deaths may be required to properly set up Daryl Dixon season 3, making the change of location crucial to the supporting cast’s chances of survival.
