“If Season One Was A Set-Up, Season 2 Is A Juggernaut”: Star Wars’ Best TV Show Is Getting Even Better, Tease Andor Stars
Andor season 2 is set to be even better than its predecessor based on the exciting teases from the stars of the show. Andor season 2’s story is set to release in April 2025, taking the show’s timeline right up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Naturally, Andor‘s ensemble cast has begun promoting the upcoming installment in light of anticipation from fans. Andor is often considered the best Star Wars TV show, with audiences hoping season 2 can continue the show’s hot streak.
As it turns out, Andor season 2 is set to do exactly that if the comments by cast members made to Empire Magazine are anything to go by. Empire‘s 2025 preview issue features interviews with Andor‘s cast members, who provided insight into what is to come, with Genevieve O’Reilly – who plays Rebel leader Mon Mothma – stating “If season 1 was a set-up, season 2 is a juggernaut,” before describing the big swings the show takes as extraordinary. Ben Mendelsohn, reprising his role as Orson Krennic from Rogue One, described season 2 with one not-so-subtle gesture, a chef’s kiss.
What Andor Season 2 Means For Star Wars
Andor Season 2 Will Only Make Star Wars’ TV Ventures More Successful
These comments from Andor‘s cast only make the wait for season 2 more unbearable. Andor season 1, despite not being a massive success regarding viewing figures, was incredibly well-received by fans and critics alike. As such, many did not think Andor could improve upon season 1, yet these comments from O’Reilly and Mendelsohn mean big things for Star Wars. On a grander scale, these comments mean that Star Wars‘ TV success will continue.

Since 2019, no one can deny that Star Wars has carved out a successful spot in the realm of TV. The popularity of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka proves this, as does the enduring success of Star Wars’ various animated TV shows. Although there have been a few blunders, highlighted by The Acolyte season 2’s cancelation, Andor season 2 looks set to continue the franchise’s TV hot streak, as reinforced by the show’s stars.
Our Take On Andor Season 2 & The Idea This Show Is Just Getting Better
For me personally, the idea of Andor getting better with season 2 is nigh impossible to imagine. My love for Andor season 1 is immeasurable, and I regard the show as far and above the best Star Wars TV production ever. Reading these comments that hint season 2 somehow improves on this was not only incredibly exciting but imbued me with a strange feeling of incomprehension.
Of course, I trust Tony Gilroy, Andor‘s other writers, and the fantastic cast to provide an excellent season of TV. That said, I did have my reservations after hearing that the initial plan for Andor‘s five seasons was cut down to two, potentially making the upcoming second season feel somewhat rushed. However, these comments from Andor season 2’s cast have eased my worries and raised my expectations in a way I did not think they could be: somehow, Andor season 2 is only set to improve on what came before it, something that sets the installment up to be truly special.
Diego Luna stars as Cassian Andor in Andor, a Disney+ exclusive series set five years before Rogue One. The series follows the titular character as he transitions from a humble thief to a revolutionary icon of the rebellion against the empire. Cassian, a man who tries to keep himself out of confrontations post the destruction of his world, is shoved into the central conflict as he naturally slots into the role of leader. Andor will explore the rebellion’s burgeoning days and highlight pivotal events in the Star Wars Franchise before the construction of the Death Star.
