Stunning Sith Lord Cosplay Summons The Power Of The Dark Side
Summary
- The Sith have had a resurgence in recent Star Wars projects, introducing new characters and legends like Darth Plagueis.
- This original Sith cosplay captures the intensity and arrogance of the dark side.
- There is an appetite for Star Wars to explore more Sith characters with a complex and nuanced approach.
The power of the dark side rises again in this original Star Wars-inspired Sith cosplay. The Sith have had a resurgence in the franchise of late. Not only did Palpatine return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but more recent projects like Star Wars: The Acolyte have made it a point to highlight the dark side of the Force and those who wield it, introducing viewers to new characters like The Stranger, a.k.a. Qimir, and even bringing legendary characters like Darth Plagueis into live-action for the first time.
Those who utilize the dark side are undoubtedly fascinating, and this cosplay by cosplayer Lauren (@jokers_jester_) perfectly captures why. Photographed by Ger McGuinness (@ger_mcguinness_photography), this cosplay of what appears to be an original Sith character inspired by the Nightsisters of Dathomir shows off the intensity of the Sith – the glowing scarlet eyes, the intimidating glare, the brilliant red lightsaber, and the arrogance that accompanies the dark side.
The facial tattoos and fiery red hair complete the look. Clearly, there’s an appetite for Star Wars to introduce more Sith characters – perhaps more female Sith characters, especially – and the franchise has never been in a better position to do so.

Star Wars Needs To Explore The Mysteries Of The Dark Side
Except for Anakin Skywalker, the Sith were the villains, the Jedi were the heroes, and nuanced portrayals of the Sith were relegated to comics and novels rather than being depicted on screen. Now, however, with the advent of Disney+, those who wield the dark side have become much more complex. Darth Tyranus’ story in Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, Darth Maul’s arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, and Qimir’s seductive tactics in The Acolyte have changed everything – not to mention all the dark side characters who aren’t genuine Sith Lords like Kylo Ren, Ventress, and the Inquisitors.
Though Palpatine’s resurrection in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker may have turned people off the idea of more Sith-related stories, the dark side and the Sith religion have so much narrative potential. Now that Star Wars is free from the Skywalker saga – as much as it will ever be, anyway – the franchise has a chance to dig deeper into its lore and history, and the Sith should be a priority, especially now that a character as compelling and significant as Darth Plagueis has come into play. As this cosplay proves, audiences are hungry for more Sith characters in Star Wars.
