Why There Is No New Ghosts This Week (November 21) & When Season 4, Episode 6 Releases
While Ghosts season 4 will continue soon, the CBS sitcom is taking a brief mid-season break in November 2024. Ghosts season 4’s cast of characters returned to screens in mid-October 2024, bringing with them a new addition to the Woodstone Mansion. Mary Holland’s creepy Patience the Puritan dominated the events of episodes 1-3, but she exited the sitcom surprisingly early. Ghosts season 4’s Patience exit hinted at further new arrivals later in the season, but the following two episodes pivoted to focus on Trevor’s attempts to impress his co-workers and Alberta helping Sam audition for a play.

Ghosts Season 4, Episode 4 Missing Spirit Makes Season 3’s Worst Multi-Episode Plot Worse
Ghosts season 4 episode 4 left out of one of the show’s lineup, and this was doubly insulting after the character was already absent in season 3.
Not all the ghosts from CBS’s Ghosts have got an episode in the spotlight in season 4’s first five episodes. Hetty is still trying to work out what her powers are, while Flower and Thor remain reliable supporting stars rather than main characters in their own right. Fortunately, there is still plenty of time for Ghosts season 4 to redress this imbalance. However, there is no new episode of Ghosts airing on November 21, 2024, and there won’t be a new episode in next week’s usual time slot either.
Why There Is No New Ghosts Season 4 Tonight (November 21, 2024)
Ghosts Season 4 Is On A Break Until December 2024
Ghosts is taking a break for two weeks before returning on December 5, as is typical for most network shows. Season 4, episode 5, “A Star Is Dead,” was the show’s last episode for three weeks, airing on November 14. Instead of continuing season 4’s story, CBS will air a rerun of season 3, episode 2, “Man of Your Dreams.” This makes thematic sense, since “A Star is Dead” picked up where that episode’s story left off. “Man of Your Dreams” introduced Sass’s Ghosts power, the ability to enter the dreams of other people.
“A Star is Dead” saw Sass utilize this power to begin dating a living woman from Sam’s theater troupe who appeared in Jay’s dream. Although Jay was initially weirded out by Sass invading his dreams, he happily helped the ghost meet this mystery woman by thinking about her before bed at Sam’s behest. However, the subplot ended in a comical catastrophe when Sass realized that he was really dating Jay’s imagined version of this woman, thus, indirectly, he was falling for Jay rather than her. This twist paid off the subplot from “Man of Your Dreams” perfectly.
When Will A New Episode Of Ghosts Season 4 Release?
Ghosts Season 4 Episode 6 Will Arrive In Early December 2024
According to CBS, Ghosts season 5 will return on December 5 with episode 6, “The Primary Source.” Not a lot is known about this outing, although it will be one of only two new Ghosts outings that will air before season 4’s two-part Christmas special. Airing on December 19, “A Very Arondekar Christmas” is a two-part Christmas episode that will finally introduce Jay’s parents to the world of the series. Ghosts season 4 introduced Sam’s estranged father Frank earlier in season 4, and their reunion didn’t go as smoothly as Sam might have hoped.
Ghosts season 4’s mid-season break is fairly standard for network sitcoms.
The odds are good that Jay’s exacting parents will have a similarly tumultuous visit, but “The Primary Source” and episode 7, “Sad Farnsby,” will both air in the weeks before that special’s arrival. Ghosts season 4’s mid-season break is fairly standard for network sitcoms, and the optimistic ending of “A Star Is Dead” was the perfect point for the show to end before this hiatus. Alberta successfully coached Sam into gaining the lead role in Cole Porter’s Anything Goes and the production’s opening night went off without a hitch.
What To Expect From The Upcoming Ghosts Season 4 Episode
Ghosts Season 4 Will Focus On Jay and The Farnsbys
While Ghosts season 4’s Christmas special will introduce the remaining members of Jay’s family, it is hard to tell what the episode “The Primary Source” will focus on. It is likely that “Sad Farnsby” will center on Sam and Jay’s troublesome neighbor, who has historically been a thorn in the couple’s side. Farnsby tried to get the Woodstone B&B shut down early on, although his return does mean that viewers might get to see more of the ghosts from his house, including Farnsby’s mother, Judy, and Thor’s son Bjorn.

While it is fun to see Farnsby reintroduced to the show’s overarching plot, Ghosts season 4 must not forget about its main characters. Alberta’s limited Ghosts season 4 role was improved by her subplot with Sam in “A Star is Dead,” but she still hasn’t received much screen time. Similarly, Sass’s romance subplot was good, but he still needs to get a backstory as promised by the Ghosts showrunners in an interview with TVLine. Similarly, Jay’s biggest promised plot has not yet occurred either. Thus, there is no shortage of storylines for Ghosts season 4 to focus on once the CBS sitcom returns in early December 2024.
