Squid Game Confirms What Happened To The Detective 3 Years After The Front Man’s Identity Reveal
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Squid Game season 1!
Squid Game season 2 is almost here, and the hit Netflix series has finally confirmed what happened to the detective three years after the reveal of the Front Man’s true identity. The identity of the Front Man was one of the biggest mysteries from throughout Squid Game season 1, with Detective Hwang Juno-ho spending most of the season trying to uncover the character’s connections to the titular games. However, when Hwang Jun-ho discovers that the Front Man is actually his brother, it is one of the biggest twists in Squid Game season 1, one that will be paid off soon.
Hwang Jun-ho seemingly died at the end of Squid Game season 1, which is why it is so interesting that he has come back now. After the Front Man and his soldiers finally tack Hwang Jun-ho down, they shoot him, leading to him falling off a cliff into the ocean. Hwang Jun-ho’s body is never seen again after he is shot, leading to the presumption that he was dead. However, the Squid Game season 2 trailer reveals that he is alive, creating a massive mystery that the Netflix show will need to answer.
Squid Game Season 2 Confirms Hwan Jun-ho Survived And Continued His Investigation
He Is Still Trying To Take The Games Down
Despite season 1 making it look like the detective died, Squid Game season 2 has confirmed that Hwang Jun-ho survived being shot by the Front Man. The first trailer for Squid Game season 2 is out now, and while it shows the return of several characters from Squid Game season 1, Hwang Jun-ho is the most notable. Hwang Jun-ho can be seen twice in the Squid Game season 2 trailer, with him doing things like using his flashlight and typing on some sort of screen. This means that the character is still investigating the Squid Games, continuing his season 1 arc.

Squid Game Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
Squid Game season 2 is on its way, and this is everything that’s been announced so far.
The idea that Hwang Jun-ho was alive after Squid Game season 1 was a major fan theory, and it’s good to see that Squid Game season 2 is confirming this. Almost every other main character in Squid Game is a participant in the games, so it is good to have a character like Hwang Jun-ho who can be more separated from these events. Much of the lore that the show provides is delivered through the Hwang Jun-ho storyline, as his connection to the Front Man allows for a lot of information to be given to him.
Hwang Jun-ho Represents A Big Threat To The Games After Everything He Saw
He Is The One With The Most Information
The Front Man and the rest of Squid Game‘s elites should be scared now that Hwang Jun-ho is back, as he is a major threat to the games after everything that he saw in season 1. The only reason that the Squid Games work is their secrecy, as barely anybody knows about them, and those who don’t know who is behind it. However, Hwang Jun-ho’s knowledge of the Front Man’s identity means that he has a major puzzle piece to solving the mystery of the games, with him being the most likely candidate to bring them down for good.
On top of that, Hwang Jun-ho has already survived on the island through one Squid Game tournament, meaning that he has a full picture of what is going on. The character’s connection to law enforcement could also be an asset in taking the organization down. The fact that the trailer shows that Hwang Jun-ho is still investigating highlights that furthering his knowledge of the games is still his goal, and maybe he will be successful by the end of Squid Game season 2.
Squid Game Has Yet To Reveal What Happened To Jun-ho Between Season 1 & Season 2
How Did He Survive The Gunshot?
There are still a lot of questions surrounding Hwang Jun-ho’s Squid Game season 2 return, as the show hasn’t yet revealed what happened between seasons 1 and 2. Squid Game season 1 ends with a massive time jump that shows that Gi-hun has decided to return to the games. This time jump means that by the time Squid Game season 2 rolls around, Hwang Jun-ho will have had to escape the Front Man, survive, and then return to investigate even further.

Squid Game Season 2’s Trailer Hints The Story Is Totally Different Than I Thought
The trailer for Squid Game season 2 is not at all what I expected out of Netflix’s hit drama, and it makes me very excited for the new season.
Nobody knows how Jun-ho managed to survive the gunshot and the fall or how he managed to evade the Pink Soldiers after he was shot. Jun-ho’s survival is the biggest threat to the games’ existence, so it doesn’t make sense that they would assume a single gunshot to the shoulder killed him. Jun-ho’s story in the aftermath of season 1 would have been very tense, and Squid Game season 2 needs to address this.
