Olivia Rodrigo’s New GUTS World Tour Film Avoids A Big Complaint About Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Movie This Year

Olivia Rodrigo’s New GUTS World Tour Film Avoids A Big Complaint About Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Movie This Year

Netflix released Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour one year after the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour premiere in theaters, and the newer movie has one important thing that the older one was missing. Olivia Rodrigo kicked off the GUTS World Tour on February 23, 2024, in Palm Desert, California, and as of the writing of this article, it’s still ongoing. As its name suggests, the GUTS World Tour centers around Rodrigo’s second studio album, GUTS. However, the concert incorporates songs from the singer-songwriter’s first album, Sour, too.

Olivia Rodrigo is expected to resume the GUTS World Tour in March 2025, traveling to Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and England. The tour will reportedly end on July 1, 2025, in Manchester, England.

Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour was recorded over the course of two back-to-back concerts at the Intuit Dome in Englewood, California, in Los Angeles County, on August 20 and 21, 2024. A little over two months later, Netflix released Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour on October 29. Now, fans who missed out on concert tickets or want to experience the GUTS World Tour again can venture over to Netflix and enjoy the movie in the comfort of their own homes. While Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was criticized for omitting performances, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, thankfully, includes every song.

Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour Film Didn’t Cut Special Guests (Unlike The Eras Tour Movie)

The Concert Film Features Chappell Roan

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was filmed at three separate concerts at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, from August 3 to 5, 2023. During those shows, HAIM opened for Taylor Swift. Since HAIM is featured on one of Swift’s songs on evermore, “no body, no crime,” the four women would perform it every night that the rock band was an opener. However, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour cut “no body, no crime” from the movie’s final cut, which frustrated many viewers. Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo’s duet with Chappell Roan is included in Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour.

Rodrigo and Roan have a history of working together, meaning performing with Roan in

was a no-brainer.

Roan joined Rodrigo onstage during her shows in Los Angeles. Together, the two singers performed Roan’s hit single, “HOT TO GO!” from her first studio album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. So, whereas some performances were left out of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, all songs were included in Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour.

Why Olivia Rodrigo Brought Chappell Roan On Stage In The GUTS World Tour Movie

Chappell Roan Opened For Olivia Rodrigo Earlier In The GUTS World Tour

Chappell Roan opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the GUTS World Tour for over 20 shows from February 23 to April 2, 2024. So, it’s understandable why Roan would agree to sing “HOT TO GO!” with Rodrigo onstage during her August 20 Los Angeles concert. Plus, Roan provided backing vocals for some of Rodrigo’s songs. Per People, Roan sang on “lacy” and “obsessed” for GUTS and on “Can’t Catch Me Now” for the The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes soundtrack. Rodrigo and Roan have a history of working together, meaning performing with Roan in Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour was a no-brainer.
