Though the entire FBI franchise has been a smashing success thus far, FBI: International and its sister series (Most Wanted) are still on the hot seat each and every year. Though this shouldn’t be a cause for alarm, it means that the show isn’t automatically renewed or given a multi-season renewal. Instead, CBS has been renewing International for induvidual seasons ever since it debuted in 2021. Though there’s little doubt that the show will be renewed for season 5, it might take a short while for the network to assess just how popular season 4 was.

The entire FBI franchise was delayed by the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which pushed the shows from their normal fall slot and into the midseason position. Nevertheless, CBS wasted little time in picking up the franchise for more seasons, including a three-season renewal for FBI. Though International and Most Wanted didn’t get multi-season pickups, the mass renewal of the procedural franchise is good news for viewers who want more. With seasons 8 and 9 of FBI on the horizon, that all but guarantees season 5 of International is coming soon as well.

Expect The Fly Team To Return In Season 5

Cast shakeups are nothing new in long-running procedurals, but the complexion of FBI: International changed completely going into season 4. The departure of Luke Kleintank as Scott Forrester and Heida Reed as Jamie Kellett leave the show in a precarious spot for the first time, and it’s uncertain how the series will adjust. Though those answers will come throughout season 4, it also means that season 5’s cast will presumably be a lot more stable. One expected return is that of newcomer Jesse Lee Soffer as SSA Wesley “Wes” Mitchell, since he just joined the show in season 4.

Other mainstays will probably be back as well, including Carter Redwood as Special Agent Andre Raines and Vinessa Vidotto as Special Agent Cameron Vo. Expect to see Eva-Jane Willis back as Europol Agent Megan “Smitty” Garretson, alongside Christina Wolfe as Agent Amanda Tate. The series also employs a host of special guest stars, but it’s impossible to guess who that will be until more information is available.

With major cast changes altering the show’s trajectory going into season 4, it’s hard to predict exactly what will happen in FBI: International season 5. Presumably, many of the threads that carried over between seasons 3 and 4 will be tied up by the end of the season, so it’s impossible to know what will happen too far in the future. Certainly, FBI: International will drop a few shocking twists in the season 4 finale, but that hasn’t happened yet. One thing that’s certain is that the show will feature weekly cases that pit the Fly Team against various international threats.
