James Gunn has confirmed that Krypto will appear in 2025’s Superman with a new look at the DC Universe‘s first film. David Corenswet plays Superman in the DCU, and the new image shared by Gunn serves as the first peek at the anticipated project since the Superman reboot finished filming. Krypto was not spotted on the Superman set, but a video of Mr. Terrific seemingly teaching the dog to fly all but confirmed his role in Superman’s large roster of DC characters. Now, Krypto’s DCU debut is set in stone.
On Twitter, James Gunn shared a new image of David Corenswet’s Superman with Krypto from 2025’s Superman.
The director not only confirmed that Krypto will appear in the film, but he also revealed that this version of the character was inspired by Ozu, Gunn’s dog, describing how his real-life experience impacted the DCU movie. Gunn adopted Ozu after he had already started writing the story of the Superman movie, and the journey of seeing first-hand how a dog that had never had contact with humans went from destroying Gunn’s house to fitting in inspired the DCU’s Krypto.
