Star Wars Outlaws 2024 Roadmap: Season Pass Details & Exclusive Mission

Star Wars Outlaws 2024 Roadmap: Season Pass Details & Exclusive Mission

Summary

  • Star Wars Outlaws Season Pass offers new content until Spring 2025 with 3 release windows.
  • DLC packs include exclusive missions and character packs for Kay and Nix.
  • Kay will interact with characters like Lando Calrissian and Hondo Ohnaka in Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune DLCs.

With Massive Entertainment’s open-world Star Wars title, Star Wars Outlaws, due to launch later this month, publisher Ubisoft has provided some insight into what the game’s post-launch roadmap will entail. It has long been known that, much like many other Ubisoft titles, Star Wars Outlaws would have a Season Pass, and that this would be included in the game’s Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition, with the latter also being included as part of Ubisoft’s Ubisoft+ Premium subscription with three days early access.

The Ubisoft website advertised two new story pack DLCs as part of the Season Pass, along with an additional “Jabba’s Gambit” mission that will be exclusive to Season Pass holders at launch, although Ubisoft has noted that Jabba and the Hutt Cartel will play a major part in the base game regardless of whether players have access to this mission. What wasn’t previously known, however, was exactly what these extra story packs would contain and when players would get their hands on the content.

Star Wars Outlaws’ Season Pass Will Provide New Content Until Spring 2025

With This New Content Releasing In Three Batches

A new blog post by Ubisoft revealed that Star Wars Outlaws‘ Season Pass will include content divided into three release windows: the game’s launch, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025. On launch day, season pass owners will gain access to a character pack and the previously confirmed Jabba’s Gambit exclusive mission, which will give Kay one additional quest from the Hutt Cartel that ties into the story of ND-5, a battle-hardened BX Commando Droid who joins Kay’s crew.

The character pack contains the “Kessel Runner” cosmetics for Kay and Nix, with the screenshot showing Kay sporting similar attire to one of Star Wars‘ most well-known scoundrels-turned-heroes, Han Solo. This attire matches Star Wars Outlaws‘ pre-order bonus, which consists of a Kessel Runner cosmetic pack for Kay’s speeder and her starship, Trailblazer.

The Star Wars Outlaws: Wild Card DLC Launches In Fall 2024

And Will See Kay Crossing Paths With Lando Calrissian

The first of Star WarsOutlaws‘ story pack DLCs is titled Wild Card and will launch in Fall 2024. The expansion sees Kay being hired to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament, tying into the card-based mini-game present throughout the base game. According to Ubisoft’s blog post, Kay will cross paths with the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian during this mission and soon learns that “another game is being played.

In
Star Wars
canon, Sabbac plays a bit like Blackjack, but with more random cards that can be changed as parts of a ”
Sabacc Shift
” to make the game a bit more complex, but the version seen in

Star Wars Outlaws
‘ recent leaks

seems to be a more simplified, accessible version of the game.

Lando was spotted playing a game of Sabacc in the Star Wars Outlaws footage shown at the 2024 Summer Game Fest. While many assumed this may have just been part of the main game’s gambling mini-game, with the recent news about Wild Card‘s storyline, this may actually have been the first look at Star Wars Outlaws‘ post-launch content.

Considering Star Wars Outlaws‘ point on the overall Star Wars timeline, it will be interesting to see if her interactions with Lando play into the wider story of the original trilogy of movies at all. Star Wars Outlaws takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, as is evident by the fact that Jabba has Han Solo in carbonite prominently displayed in his palace.

Despite reluctantly betraying Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO upon their arrival on Cloud City – ultimately resulting in Han being frozen in carbonite – the final moments of The Empire Strikes Back see Lando helping Leia, Chewbacca, and Luke escape Cloud City before promising to help find Han. Therefore, his appearance in Star Wars Outlaws could be part of this quest, with the “other game being played” potentially setting up the daring rescue attempt in Return of the Jedi‘s opening moments.

Considering
Star Wars Outlaws
‘ trailers have revealed that Kay has been inside Jabba’s Palace in the base game and has seen Han Solo trapped there, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to have the two storylines connect.

When this first story pack is released, Season Pass owners also get two additional cosmetic packs: the Hunter’s Legacy bundle and the Cartel Ronin bundle. Each of these comes with additional outfits for Kay and Nix and cosmetics for Kay’s speeder and Trailblazer.

The Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune DLC Launches In Spring 2025

With Kay Running Into A Veteran Pirate

The final story pack contained in Star Wars Outlaws‘ Season Pass is A Pirate’s Fortune. Ubisoft’s description of the pack doesn’t give too much away but suggests that it ties into the backstory for Kay’s ship, Trailblazer. Kay can be seen stealing Trailblazer in some of Star Wars Outlaws‘ promotional material, but A Pirate’s Fortune suggests that the ship already has a reputation among the criminal underworld. The synopsis states that Kay will run into veteran pirate Hondo Ohnaka because of Trailblazer, as he looks to settle old scores with a ruthless gang of pirates.

Hondo Ohnaka has appeared in plenty of Star Wars media, most prominently as part of the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series, where he interacted with the likes of Count Dooku, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker during his time as the Pirate King of Florrum. These series showed his fall from this position, and by the Imperial Era in which Star Wars Outlaws is set, he had begun taking on freelance work for various criminal factions.

Hondo was captured by the Crimson Dawn’s lieutenant Qi’ra in the year 11 BBY after a bounty hunting attempt went wrong on Hondo’s part, although Hondo would later claim in the book The Secrets of the Bounty Hunters that he had come out on top. As Qi’ra is already confirmed to make an appearance in the game and has been shown interacting with Kay in promotional images, with Star Wars Outlaws taking place in the year 4 ABY, it would make for an interesting reunion should Hondo and Qi’ra’s paths cross again.

Considering how Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft have reiterated that Kay Vess’ story will not focus on the main conflict between the rebels and the Empire in Star Wars Outlaws, but rather the inner workings of the Outer Rim’s criminal underworld, it will be interesting to see how legacy characters such as Hondo’s stories intertwine with Kay’s throughout the story DLCs, or more intriguingly, Lando’s, considering the role he plays in assisting the Rebels at this time.
