However, Futurama season 12 just doubled down on this idea, with it killing off the entire main cast of Futurama once again.

Futurama Season 12 Just Killed Off Every Character In Its Squid Game Episode

They Aren’t Dead Forever Though

Futurama‘s “Quids Game” is a clear parody of the Netflix series Squid Game, in which a group of contestants participate in childhood games, with the losers being killed off. The Futurama episode lifts nearly every aspect of this, with the Futurama characters who don’t win being murdered in various ways. Fry, Bender, Leela, and several dozen other characters die in the episode, with the only survivor being a side character named Hattie McDoogal.

“Rebirth” was the premiere of
Futurama
‘s revival on Comedy Central.

Despite each Futurama character facing a violent end, they are all safe and sound by the end of the episode. This is because the aliens who rule the planet decide to revive every character once the challenges are over, with everyone being surprised that they are back alive. This allows the Squid Game parody to work while not changing the status quo of Futurama, even though it killed off every main character.

Hulu’s Futurama Killing Off Main Characters Continues A Series Trend

Futurama Characters Die All The Time

“Quids Game” isn’t the first time that the Futurama cast has died, as this is something that has happened several times in the series’ past. Futurama famously killed off every main character except for Farnsworth in the 2010 episode “Rebirth,” with Farnsworth having to use a machine to bring everyone back to life after a devastating ship crash.

Characters have also died individually throughout the show, with Bender dying 10 times throughout Futurama. The rest of the gang has been killed off in non-canon anthology episodes and in other stories that allow them to come back to life at the end. Futurama is surprisingly violent with its main characters, and “Quids Game” proves that Hulu’s revival has no plans to change this.
