Tom Hardy has been spotted filming in New York City while Venom: The Last Dance is in the midst of doing reshoots for the Marvel threequel. Though the future of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is unclear after 2024, one franchise in that continuity is getting ready for its end, since Venom: The Last Dance will be the final movie for Hardy’s titular character. Set to pick up directly after Hardy’s cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom: The Last Dance will find the anti-hero once again on the run.

Will Venom 3 Finally Set Up Spider-Man?
If the Venom: The Last Dance story is indeed set to bring Eddie to New York somehow, this could finally be Sony’s chance to remedy the biggest flaw of this franchise: the lack of Spider-Man. One of the consistent complaints with all the films coming out of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is that the web-slinger is nowhere to be found. While the beloved Marvel hero has been absent, all of his villains or supporting characters (in the case of Madame Web) are getting solo movie without having any ties to the actual web-crawler.
Venom: The Last Dance may finally answer the long-running mystery of whether or not Spider-Man is in this universe and, if so, what he has been up to and why the Symbiote has a grudge against him, as shown in the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post-credits scene. Perhaps Eddie being in New York is meant to serve as a little tease of what Venom will be exploring off-screen after the end of his trilogy finale. Even if there is no showdown between Spider-Man and Venom in this film, having the ending allude to the idea that Eddie does eventually go after Peter would be a full-circle moment in itself.
The bigger twist that Venom: The Last Dance could end up unveiling is that perhaps Peter Parker has not become Spider-Man yet in this world, and Eddie becomes the eyes and ears for the audience that gets to witness that first hand. If there is even an actor playing Peter Parker in Venom: The Last Dance, it will be interesting to see who may fill that role, as it is unlikely to be any established Spider-Man actor. As Venom: The Last Dance is arriving in only a few months, time will tell how New York plays into the overall story.
