Star Trek: Prodigy season 2’s new Vulcan hero, Maj’el (Michaela Dietz), is confirmed to be a descendant of an iconic Vulcan from Star Trek: The Original Series. Originally a member of Starfleet Academy’s elite Nova Squadron, Maj’el logically heeds the words of Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton) that her destiny is tied to the young Starfleet hopefuls of the USS Protostar. Joining up with Dal R’El (Brett Gray), Gwyndala (Ella Purnell), and their friends, Maj’el becomes a steadfast member of the USS Prodigy’s crew in Star Trek: Prodigy season 2.
Star Trek: Prodigy‘s executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman confirmed to SyFy Sistas that Maj’el is a descendant of T’Pau (Celia Lovsky) from the Star Trek: The Original Seriesseason 2 episode, “Amok Time”, which was further verified by co-executive producer Aaron J. Waltke. Check out SyFy Sistas‘ and Waltke’s X posts below:
Maj’el’s family history with T’Pau was not stated on-screen in
Star Trek: Prodigy
season 2, but was hinted at by Maj’el’s hair, which is a visual nod to the white trim of T’Pau’s hair in
Star Trek: The Original Series.

Maj’el’s Vulcan Family Connection To Star Trek: TOS’ T’Pau Explained
Maj’el is part of a storied Vulcan legacy.
Described as “All of Vulcan in one package” by Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), T’Pau was a Vulcan legend in the 23rd-century era of Star Trek: The Original Series who was the first Vulcan to turn down a seat on the Federation Council. T’Pau oversaw the Kal-if-fee ritual that ended the betrothal of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and T’Pring (Arlene Martel). A century earlier, in Star Trek: Enterprise season 4, the young T’Pau (Kara Zediker), joined Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) and Subcommander T’Pol (Jolene Blalock) in liberating Vulcan from the corrupt Vulcan High Command and re-instituting the teachings of Surak.
Maj’el is named for another
Star Trek
legend, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry.
In Star Trek: Prodigy season 2, Maj’el carries the burden of T’Pau’s legacy. Though Maj’el doesn’t speak of her ancestry, her desire to excel stems from the pressures she feels to live up to her legendary ancestor. Maj’el is a top pilot with Nova Squadron, and her cool logic proves essential when she, Zero (Angus Imrie), Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui), and Wesley Crusher solve the complex temporal mechanics dilemma of repairing their broken paradox timeline. By the end of Star Trek: Prodigy season 2, Maj’el shows she is a worthy successor to her ancestor, T’Pau, and joins the proud list of the best Vulcan characters in Star Trek.
