Halle Berry’s Storm Is Only X-Men Return I Still Need To See After Deadpool & Wolverine
I want to see Halle Berry come back as Storm in the MCU even more after Deadpool & Wolverine brought us back to Earth-10005 of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise. Halle Berry first appeared as Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. Storm, in 2000’s X-Men, bringing one of my favorite characters from Marvel Comics to life. While I feel as though Fox’s X-Men franchise never truly did Storm justice, Halle Berry did a good job of working with what she was given, so I’m very excited about the prospect of her returning as Storm in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.

Halle Berry’s career as Storm seemed to be over after 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past rewrote history, as Fox’s X-Men franchise then began to focus solely on the younger cast, which saw Alexandra Shipp portray Storm. Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019 marked the end of Shipp’s own portrayal of Storm, with the character seemingly set to be reinvented for the MCU’s X-Men reboot. However, I reckon there’s still a way Halle Berry can return as Storm, and I would love for this to happen before the Multiverse Saga comes to an end.
Deadpool & Wolverine Made Me Want To See Halle Berry’s Storm Return In A Marvel Movie Even More
Several Of Fox’s X-Men Characters Returned In Deadpool & Wolverine
2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine brought us back to the world of Fox’s X-Men franchise, now dubbed Earth-10005. This created the opportunity for many of Fox’s characters, both heroes and villains alike, to reappear in the MCU, which included the likes of Deadpool himself, Colossus, X-23, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Sabretooth and many more. The fact that so many of Fox’s previous mutant characters came back during Deadpool & Wolverine makes me hopeful that even more could follow, especially since Earth-10005 survived Cassandra Nova’s attack.
I initially expected Earth-10005 to be destroyed during Deadpool & Wolverine, with the X-Men being wiped out, Deadpool joining the MCU’s main continuity permanently, and the door being shut once-and-for-all on Fox’s X-Men franchise. While I’m a little disappointed this didn’t happen, I love that Earth-10005’s survival means more characters, perhaps even more high-profile ones, can return in the MCU’s future. Since Halle Berry never really got the chance to show off all of Storm’s incredible abilities, I would love for her to be top of the list.
The Multiverse Saga Has Several Perfect Excuses To Bring Back Halle Berry’s Storm
The X-Men Have Already Been Seen In A Variety Of Alternate Universes
Perhaps the easiest way for Halle Berry to reprise her role of Storm would be for the X-Men of Earth-10005 to be revisited in an upcoming MCU project. This could see Berry return alongside the likes of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, James Marsden’s Cyclops and Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, depending on when in the timeline this takes place. The MCU’s Multiverse Saga has created many other opportunities for Halle Berry to return as Storm, however.
There are endless possibilities for Halle Berry’s return as Storm.
A version of the X-Men was confirmed to exist on Earth-838 in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so Halle Berry’s Storm could return to seek vengeance for Professor X’s death. The Marvels also ended with Monica Rambeau becoming trapped in an alternate universe inhabited by the X-Men. I loved seeing Kelsey Grammer reprise his role of Beast in The Marvels, following his debut in X-Men: The Last Stand, and his return could hint at Fox’s classic actors portraying the other X-Men members, hinting at Halle Berry’s Storm.
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine spoke a great deal about the X-Men team of his own universe in Deadpool & Wolverine, too. While all of these heroes are thought to be dead from an attack that Wolverine failed to stop, it’s possible a flashback could reveal more about them, or they could somehow return in the MCU’s future, with Halle Berry portraying the Storm variant from the “Worst Wolverine’s” world. Loki on Disney+ opened a whole treasure trove of alternate universes and branching realities, so there are endless possibilities for Halle Berry’s return as Storm.
I Want To Say Goodbye To Halle Berry’s Storm Before Someone New Takes Over The Role
Storm Will Likely Get Completely Reinvented In The MCU Proper
It seems very likely that Storm will be recast in the MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot, and I am happy about that, as the character never really found her footing in Fox’s X-Men franchise. However, before a new actor takes on the role of Storm, I am desperate to see Halle Berry sport the white hair at least once more. Berry is an incredible actor, one of my personal favorites, and her casting as Storm in 2000’s X-Men was an inspired choice, so she deserves the opportunity to fully exhibit the hero’s goddess-like potential in live-action.
Popular fan-casts for the MCU’s official version of Storm have included Janelle Monáe, Anna Diop, DeWanda Wise, Naomie Harris and many more.
Storm is one of Marvel Comics’ most notable heroes, and beyond that, she was the first major female character of African descent in any American comic book. Storm is hugely important, relevant and representative, and is practically a goddess in Marvel Comics, and while this was demonstrated accurately in the animated X-Men ’97 series, her live-action depictions never really captured the magic. Halle Berry came close in X-Men: Days of Future Past, however, so I’d love to see her return to take this even further, transforming her Storm into a true goddess.
Where Halle Berry Could Return As Storm In The MCU’s Multiverse Saga
X-Men Cameos Have Been Rumored For Several Upcoming MCU Projects
After Deadpool & Wolverine’s huge success, I can envision Marvel Studios putting sequels into development immediately. A possible Deadpool 4 or even Deadpool & Wolverine 2 could once again take place on Earth-10005, and could feature the actual X-Men team’s return, which might be a wonderful and hilarious place to bring Halle Berry’s Storm back into live-action. Upcoming MCU movies such as Doctor Strange 3, Spider-Man 4 and The Fantastic Four: First Steps are expected to explore the multiverse, so new versions of the X-Men team, including Berry’s Storm, could debut.
Of course, the most likely place that Halle Berry could return as Storm in the MCU would be in Phase 6’s Avengers movies, as both Doomsday and Secret Wars are expected to detail an epic adventure across the multiverse. Secret Wars, in particular, is speculated to include a huge number of heroes from the MCU, past and present, and other, non-MCU Marvel franchises, which includes Fox’s X-Men franchise and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. I think this would be the easiest place for Halle Berry to return as Storm, and I can’t wait to see her rejoin the MCU in full force.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a multimedia superhero franchise that began in 2008 with Paramount’s Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr. The franchise quickly grew in popularity, with Disney eventually buying out Marvel Entertainment in 2009. The MCU consists of dozens of movies and TV shows, most notably Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision, and Loki.
