Lovers Turn To Enemies At The Dawn Of The Sith In Incredible Star Wars Concept Film
Two lovers fight for and against each other in this incredible Star Wars concept film. Set early in the Star Wars timeline, during the Second Great Schism that has divided the light and dark sides of the Force, the Jedi Maree has tracked down Ama-Jin, a former ally who has slipped into the dark side. The two engage in a fierce battle while trying to convince each other of their own stance. “If you’re not with me, then you’re my enemy,” Ama-Jin says to his former lover, echoing the same words Obi-Wan Kenobi will one day hear from Anakin Skywalker.
The stunning video, Dark Jedi, was made by Youtuber urbanamadei and Hollywood stuntwoman Marie Mauroum, who worked on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
When Ama-Jin turns to attack Maree, his lightsaber flickers an orange-red color, something that clearly shakes her to see. She asks about the saber’s crystal, and Ama-Jin responds that the Kyber’s bleeding needs more practice. The fight between them ends with Ama-Jin sparing Maree’s life, only to be shot down by an Old Republic soldier. Enraged at the death of her former lover, Maree strikes the soldier down as her lightsaber blade turns blood-red.
How Exactly Does Bleeding A Lightsaber Work?
It’s how a Sith gets a red lightsaber blade
The Acolyte featured the first on-screen lightsaber bleeding, but the concept has existed for years, first mentioned in E.K. Johnston’s 2016 novel, Ahsoka. Kyber crystals are naturally inclined to align with the light side of the Force, meaning that a dark side user would have to alter the crystal to use it. The process of forcing a kyber crystal into submission through rage, pain, and fear would turn it red, giving the dark-side-wielding Sith their iconic weapons.
Bleeding isn’t always an easy process, and kyber crystals can sometimes crack under the pressure of their corruption, such as in the case of Ben Skywalker’s glitch-like blade. However, just like their owners, kyber crystals can be redeemed through a process called “healing,” which would often result in a white lightsaber. After all, the process of redemption is crucial to Star Wars’ central message that anyone can be saved from the corrupting power of pain and regret. Now that bleeding has been seen in live action, it would be amazing to see one healed on screen as well.
